V10000 Most Frequent Questions - February 2019

These are the most frequent questions in February, we have provided different solutions to resolve.

Call list or block list button not functioning

Solution Options:

  • Ensure line is not overloaded with too much telephony equipment (multiple separate phones, separate answering machines, tv caller display, alarm system, gate intercoms, fax machines etc.), try disconnecting some equipment to see if issue resolves.
  • If using a DSL filter on the line – change to a top-quality filter
  • Change mode of call blocker to 100 or 200 (300 is the default mode)

To change the operating mode, ensure the Call Blocker is the STANDARD setup:

                                                                     i.            Get a dial tone

ii.            Hold CALL LIST for 5 seconds until the call blocker beeps this will change the call blocker to mode “100”

iii.            Hang up and repeat the process for mode “200” and “300”

                                                                 iv.            Test all modes individually

  • Change the set up to Parallel with the white cable. To do this

                                                         i.            Unplug the Line cable from your telephone

ii.            Take the LINE cable that you unplugged and insert into the LINE port on the call blocker

iii.            Take the small white cable that came with the call blocker and insert the red end into the LINE 1 port of the call blocker and place the clear end into the telephone.

Blocking calls that it shouldn’t

Solution Options:

Firstly, check what operating mode the call blocker is in and then proceed to the relevant step:

Step 1 = Allow Mode

Step 2 = Block Mode

Step 1 - Allow Mode

Ensure that the number is in the allow list other wise it will be blocked – Allow mode will only allow numbers programmed in to the allow list to call

To add a number into the allow list, this can be completed in multiple ways:

A.      Press allow list button on a number in the call list

B.      Press the allow list button on a number in the block list

C.      if in standard set up – manually add in by enter **8# number #

D.      if in parallel and in block mode – press the allow list on a live call

Once the number is added into the allow list, it will permanently come through until removed from the allow list.

Step 2 - Block mode

Ensure the number is not in the block list

Either scroll through the block list – if you find the number either press and hold the delete button for 5 seconds to remove or on the number press the allow list button, this will remove the number from the block list

If in the standard set up – manually unblock number by generating a dial tone, press and hold the block now button until you hear a beep then dial on the phone handset **6 # number # if it is a cell phone place a 1 before the number.

When the blocked call comes through, was there a number displayed or is the number private?

If the number is private and the code to block all private callers has been entered this will also block this (this is the caller’s number private not the name/text as private on the phone) the caller will need to display a number when calling or turn off the blocking of private callers

Caller ID not showing on the call blocker, dashes showing across the middle of the screen instead

Solution Options:

  • Ensure the call blocker is set up on the master socket

  • Check the feature caller ID is active with telephone provider

  • Change mode of call blocker to 100 or 200 (300 is the default mode)

To change the operating mode, ensure the Call Blocker is the STANDARD setup:

                                                                     i.            Get a dial tone

ii.            Hold CALL LIST for 5 seconds until the call blocker beeps this will change the call blocker to mode “100”

iii.            Hang up and repeat the process for mode “200” and “300”

                                                                 iv.            Test all modes individually

  • Change the set up to Parallel with the white cable. To do this:

  • Change the set up to alternative parallel with a splitter and extra line cable, to do this:

                                                         i.            Place a line splitter in the wall jack or modem

ii.            Take the LINE cable that is plugged into the telephone and place in one socket of the splitter leaving the other end in the telephone

iii.            Take the additional line cable and insert one end into the other port of the splitter and the other end into the LINE port of the call blocker
